Yes, it's everyone's favorite canon recolor. (Except Mephiles… and Shadow X'DDDDDD) :iconsuperw00tplz:

Now I know that most of the fandom doesn't really like this guy and I feel like that's mostly SEGA's fault. For one, he's not creative in visual design or name. For two, he brings nothing new to the table… right? Not to me, I think he's great! No seriously, I like this guy and hopefully, I can convince you to like him. Or maybe just convince you to hate him less. XDDDD

Okay, just for a minute, think of Eggman Nega as a disfigured clone of the original Robotnik from Silver's Future. If you think about it, his origin has always been "Nega is a descendant from Robotnik and Silver has fought him in his time". Now, we know that there is no one even remotely able to… breed with Robotnik. There's just… there's no way he would be able to make kids by "doing the do". Seeing as he's a science guy, he would most likely just clone himself and awaken that clone when he, the original, is about to die. This clone may be a perfect clone on the outside but it wouldn't be mentally, there's always a draw back to cloning. And if the clone, got old and cloned himself, what would THAT clone be like? Wouldn't it be less stable than it's previous clone? And so, if for generations, these clones cloned themselves, by the time we get to Silver's time, wouldn't we end up with a deranged and psychotic version of the original person? I'd like to think so! XDDDD

This helps us understand his motives better; the quote I chose to write in the pic shows his thought process. If he's a crazy clone that was born into a world where Iblis, or some other crazy thing, is running around burning everything in sight, would Nega really CARE about that world? It's honestly a wonder why Silver cared before he met Mephiles. :/ But think about it: Silver's world has fallen to disaster time and time again, Nega knows that and might be convinced that the world is destined to crumble, which would be his motive to wanting to destroy the world before that happens and put everyone out of their misery with a quick death. Is it something you would do? Probably not, but remember, Nega is insane. He might think of himself as a merciful savior to a doomed planet, that nut bar.

And his other motive, to get rid of current Robotnik, is also understandable. It might be cliché, but the identity crisis that a typical nuts-o clone has with it's original has been used effectively throughout fiction. Riku and Repliku from Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories and Ben Reilly and Peter Parker in the Clone Saga of Spider-Man are two examples. When there are clones involved, especially psychologically disturbed clones, there's basically a 100% chance they want to erase the original to make themselves feel better about being a clone.

Now let's get to the fun part: what has this character accomplished? Simply put, Nega has stolen the Jeweled Scepter, the Master Emerald of Blaze's Dimension, TWICE. He didn't "shatter it", he didn't "trick her into giving it to him", he took it on his own. He also knew how the Sol Emeralds worked and used that to his advantage when facing Blaze in Sonic Rush. BLAZE didn't know how HER OWN Sol Emeralds worked, but Nega did. Not only that, but Nega is FROM THE FUTURE, WENT TO ANOTHER DIMENSION, WENT TO THE PAST (our present), WENT BACK TO ANOTHER DIMENSION, WENT BACK TO THE PAST, WAS BANISHED INTO A HELLISH DIMENSION WITH THE IFRIT, AND THEN COMES BACK TO THE PAST JUST TO PLAY AROUND. Old boy has been AROUND, let me tell you.

But the main thing is, he is one of the only people to go back and forth from the future without losing his memory of it, besides Silver. Which means, you only have 2 characters in this entire series that can say that. This means, since Nega is time hopping, that allows Silver to show up with Sonic and the gang. You know, for an ACTUAL REASON. (I'm looking at you Generations. :|) Nega lets the fans see Silver more, which is always good, he's Silver, come on, but it also establishes the overall parallels of Silver and Sonic. Silver, like Sonic, is a heroic hedgehog that saves the world using his specifically unique powers. Not only does this solidify the legacy of Sonic, it shows us the possibilities of Silver's adventures in the future. As fans, we don't really think to much about this, but maybe this will help:

Think of Batman Beyond in this regard. We (Batman the Animated Series fans) were already well adept and familiar with the original caped crusaders'… crusades. We had the rogues gallery and their schemes memorized and we just knew everything there was to know about the series. Until Batman Beyond put a fresh new spin on what we were so familiar with. It was exciting and interesting to no end seeing some new Batman, carrying on the legacy in his own way, by fighting villains both similar to his predecessor, and unique to him and his world. Not only that, but it didn't rewrite the past show, that we all treasured, it BUILT UPON IT. We got to see characters grow up, mature (maybe a little too much), and become legacies of their own. Batman Beyond is the Silver of the series, and SEGA you need to make a game set entirely in Silver's Future, with Silver as the main character. I'm so serious, do you know how cool that would be?! v

Anyway, these are the reasons why you should hate Eggman Nega less than you currently do. He has potential that has been wasted by SEGA, not unlike literally ALL the characters of this series. Sorry this was longer than it needed to be. X'DDDDDD
