Back Story:

Eggman found Sonic extremely heavily wounded after the blue Hedgehog had a very hard battle against Sonic.exe. Sonic, While being at the Brink to Death, his body got "repaired" by Eggman by replacing many, more or less completely destroyed and broken bones and torn apart muscles of the hedgehog's body with bionic parts. Next to saving his arch-enemy, he brought Sonic under his control by using a pair Power Rings, which he intrigated into Sonic's shoes, so he wouldn't be capable of regaining his own will.
