I'm honestly worried about Sonic X Shadow Generation. Shadow was starting to be likeable again in tMoStH and Sonic Prime. It is going to go toward this direction or we are going back to 2010?
The plot leaked of Sonic x Shadow Generation was about 'understanding what motivates Shadow'.
Do they see we dislike the edgelord we got during the '10s and want to set this characterization in a stone? I won't say what I think about this move (also because I still don't know their intention, maybe is something else). I'm wary, anyway.
Shadow doesn't need Maria to be lonely and melancholic. He is immortal, so he knows he will outlive his friendsand when Earth will be unhabitable due to the Sun deteriorating he will be completely alone. He is treated awfully by most because he is different. If you look at early '00 games and forget Maria, you'll see there are several reasons to him to be sad.
