Day 14: Princess and Knight
I enjoyed this one immensely lol I LOVE drawing, shading, designing, etc armor. I can't explain why, it's just so much fun even though it takes much longer.
I've debated a ton on how Shard could exist in the SATBK storyline. Given that…you know, robots, I've always thought it would be cool if he was a cursed suit of armor or something, but I don't know. I'll let you guys decide! ;D

Headcanon
I spent a lot of time figuring out which 'knight of the round table' Shard would equate to, and found the perfect candidate. I like to think of Shard as Sir Caradoc, cursed knight. Caradoc, at the beginning of King Arthur's reign, was part of a rebellion against the king when Arthur initially took the throne. Not long after, Caradoc saw the error in his ways and reconciled with the king and was welcomed as a knight, later becoming one of Arthur's most valuable and most trusted allies. Later on in his life, Caradoc encountered a wizard and confronted the sorcerer. The end result was the wizard summoning a serpent to attack Caradoc, said serpent then attaching itself to his left arm (left arms, yay for insignificant details lol). In order to free himself from the serpent, which is both crippling his arm and stealing away his very life energy, Caradoc sets off to find a cure, with the help of his childhood friend, Guinier. They eventually break the curse(before anyone comments it, yes I know how lol) but Caradoc's arm was crippled beyond repair- giving him the nicknames of both 'Caradoc the Cursed Knight' and 'Caradoc Short Arm'. Guinier wasn't a princess, but y'know, can't get every detail. They get married afterwards so it's close enough for me xD

I was very inspired by the wonderful work of :iconketrindarkdragon:, and this piece in particular was inspiration for designing Shard's armor + his crippled arm :)
